   Hill Tribes of Arunachal Pradesh

High mountain and dense forest have prevented inter communication between tribes living in different valleys, isolation imposed by geography has led over twenty six major tribe with several dialects to live and flourish with their distinct identities. Festival are essential part of the socio-cultural life of the tribes of the Arunachal Pradesh. The festival having connection with agricultural and celebrated with ritualistic gaiety either thank to the god for the providence or to pray for bumper harvest. Booriboot of Hillmiri tribe celebrated at Raga an small town 40km ahead of Ziro, during festival people gather from different villages with traditional attire, sing and dance, priest perform ritual ceremony.

Dates - 22 February - 09 March 2004 / Tour Cost - € 2500.00 (Euro) per person

Day 01: Arrive Kolkata ex Intl Flight. Met at airport. Drive to 3 * Hotel for shower and change. Board the Train - for O/Nt Train Journey to Guwahati.

Day 02: Arrive Ghuwati & 4 Hrs drive to Kazirange Park. PM Game Viewing & O/NT Resort.

Day 03: Drive 310 Kms to Itanagar O/Nt Hotel.

Day 04: Drive to Ziro after Sight seeing of Itanagar 180 Kms & O/Nt Camp.

Day 05: 26th February: 40 Kms to drive to Participate in the festival (BOORIBBOT FESTIVAL) for Tribal Photography. Ziro is the land of Apatani tribals who are fond of hunting and Zoom cultivation is their prime profession. Apatani tribals are known for their handsome and beautiful looks. Local wine 'Apang' is their favorite drink. They are equally fond of colorful dresses, with specialties and varieties. Women-folk love to draw tattoo on foreheads and cheeks, and wear on cane nose pins. They believe they are the descendents of first man and women - 'Aro', 'Tani', 'Doyni' and 'Polo'

Day 06: Raga - Photography tour of Ziro & O/NT - Camp

Day 07: Drive - Ziro - Daporijo - 190 Kms 7 hrs drive. Daporijo is the headquarter of the Upper Subansri district of Arunachal Pradesh located at an altitude of 600m is inhabited by Tagin tribe. Enroute you can have visit of Hillmiri tribal villages at Raga Nishi, Hillmiri and Tagin tribe are more or less similar in their culture customs, tradition, and also slight similarity in their dialogue - Rest House / Safari Tents

Day 08: Drive - Daparijo - Along - 190 Kms

Day 09: Camp & Photography at Along.
Along is the headquarter of West Saing district of Arunachal Pradesh located at an altitude of 300m inhabitants of Adi (Gallong) tribes. Adi has different sub tribe which differ from each others like Adi (Gallong, Minyong, Pasi, Padam, Bori, and Boker), if you visit the interiors you will find all these tribes, but in Along you will find only Adi (Gallong) tribal people. You can have visit of Jirdin, Kabu, Kaying villages. It will be interesting to see a hanging bridge on the Siang river, locally made of cane and bamboo bridge around 60 to 70m long connecting to the others hill tribes, fishing are the sports for these tribe. You can have visit to Komsing village which is a historical memorial places for these tribes, during the British rule in these area a commissioner called Williamson Magorwho was posted there was murdered during battle war with local Adi (Gallong) tribe, still local people preserved his memorial, you have to trek for 10 to 12 km on the top of the hill after crossing Siang river on cane bridge. - Rest House / Safari Tents .

Day 10: Along -Pashighar 180 Kms
Pasighat the headquarter of East Siang District of Arunachal Pradesh located at an altitude of 150m, inhabitants of Adi (Minyong) tribe. Enroute you can have visit of Pangin tribal villages, all along Siang River, the areas are good for adventure sports like river rafting, angling, and trekking. The river Brahamaputra is the confluence of the Siang and Lohit river of Arunachal Pradesh, ferrying crossing into this river is an unique experience which takes 5 to 6hrs to reached Dibrugarh, in down stream, in upstream it takes 8 to 9hrs. The ferry service Pasighat to Dibrugarh is a lifeline for this tribe; you will be interested to interact with local business men/women carrying with cattle and others edible items to be marketed at Dibrugarh in the season.

Day 11: Pashighat /Dambuk/ Pangin: 120km 5hrs drive Explore the region O/NT Camp

Day 12: Drive to Roing & Explore Indu-Mishimi tribe O/NT Camp.

Day 13: Early Morning - Drive to Dibrugarh Arrive by Late Evening
Drive to the Brahmputra mighty river bank 110 Kms & than board the Ferry to cross on the other side of the river BRAHMAPUTRAThe great Brahmaputra- the "son of the creator" - the only male river in Indian mythology, is the life giving river of the land, originating from the revered holy region or Mount Kailash and Mansarover. The Tibetans as well as Indians revere it both. It flows across the Tibetan tableland to the East as the great Tsangpo turning in the "great bend" across the Eastern Himalayas in a 70 Km forbidden loop to slice through the mountain range in a Southerly course through Arunachal as Dihang and later Siang to emerge in the Assam plains as the great Brahmaputra. It goes on as the Yamuna to flow through Bangladesh into the Bay of Bengal.

Day 14: At Leisure in Dibrugarh to explore the hamlet town - the Tea Hub in the upper Assam

Day 15: board the Train at Dibrugarh Station departing 1700 Hrs & O/Nt Journey to Kolkata

Day 16: Arrive At Kolkata at 0700 Hrs - full day sight seeing & including visit to Mother Teresa Ashram, after midnight connecting flight home.

8. tourist royalty fees @ € 50.00 per person payable to Arunachal Pradesh Government is extra, subject to minimum of four persons travelling together. In case of less than four Pax additional € 250.00 in extra payment as government royalty fees.
