Festival Tours in India, Bhutan & Tibet:
The Indian
sub-continent enjoys innumerable
festivals in a calendar year. Not only in rural areas, even in the cities
the story
is same. These are occasions when the rich and the poor, the old and
the young, all enjoy with great enthusiasm. Festivals bring out the best
of
our heritage and offer not only to the locals but also to guest, the
message of peace and brotherhood.
We are pleased
to be able to offer everyone an insight into some of these beautiful
festivals in India, Bhutan and Tibet. Giving
below some of the popular festivals, participation in which can be a
part of a unique holiday experience:
Tibetan
Festivals - Buddhism was introduced into Tibet in the 7th
century. In this sparsely populated region monasteries and their
vicinities have naturally become the centres of activity and hallmarks
of a city, town or area. Even in today's changing world the deep
rooted values of kindness, compassion, tolerance and love, fostered
in them by their religious faith permeate their whole life style.
There are many Tibetan festivals which can be interesting for our
guests.
- Indian
Festivals - India is a land of cultural and religious diversity.
There are many many festivals here - we have selected a few which
are spectacular and lively and allow for participation by all.
We have also selected a few festive fairs which are the time for
people to come together to celebrate life and interact with each
other.
Festivals
of Bhutan - Druk Yul, The "land of the peaceful dragon" is
a land of pure and exotic mysticism. Religion is a guiding force
in the life of the Bhutanese people. A brief note here... Festivals
here not pageants or entertainment events - they are deeply religious
events which outsiders are given the opportunity to witness and
we will request all our guests to respect the sensitivity of the
people of Bhutan when participating in these festivals.
- Buddhist Festivals of Ladakh -
The centuries old culture of Ladakh has found expression in its monuments,
gompas, oral literature, art forms, fairs and festivals, thus reflecting
the strong hold religion has in the lives of the Ladakhis. A visit
to this scenic area in the High Himalayas can be an enlightening experience
as you join the locals in prayers and witnessing festive dances.
