Lhasa to Kathmandu Bicycle Tour

Details & Schedule of the Itinerary

Day 01 Arrive Kathmandu. Transfer to Hotel


Day 02 Sightseeing around the Kathmandu valley. Overnight Hotel. (
Issue of Visa & Permit to Visit Tibet)

Day 03 Fly to Lhasa from Kathmandu. Overnight Hotel ( 3*). We drive from the Airport to Lhasa Appx(3,680 - M) that is 88 km. During the days in Lhasa we spend our time to gain necessary acclimatization O/nt Hotel

Day 04 Full day guided sightseeing in Lhasa. Overnight Hotel
Visit the Potala palace and the Dshokhang temple, Barkhor Market in Lhasa. Overnight Hotel.


Day 05 Local sightseeing in Lhasa. Overnight Hotel
This morning we visit the monastery of Drepung. Afternoon will be of free either to explore the attractions and the remaining time will be prepared for the next day's start of the biking. Overnight hotel.

Day 06 Early Morning after B,fast flex the muscles on the Bike Tour. Today mainly the ride is on metalled road & latter 20 Kms as we come closer to the camping location on the base of the Khamba La the Isolation envelopes .
ride along the Tsangpo river up to the foot of the Khamba La pass (3,700 m). Here we set up our tented camps of the first night. Overnight accommodation in the tent [85 km].

Day 07 Kamba La Pass. Camp after 56 kms.
As we ascend uphill the hair s pin bends & the serpentine roads, the Windy pass & also it is time to say good bye to the Ascend of the Branmputra valley or Tsangpo ,ride across the lavishly adored prayer flags and ramp of the Khamba La pass (790 meters to 300 meters). descend down hill to the banks of the the Yamdruk Lake. We ride along the lake, and set our camp this day (4,490m). Overnight accommodation in the tent. [53 km]

Day 08 Continue and camp before Karo La pass.
Follow the trail on the bank of the Blue colored turquoise aquatic body man made , at an altitide of (4,500m), and ascend uphill through the ravine topography to conclude to ride at the base of the Karo La pass (4,750m), where we will have our tented camps for the overnight stay. [54 km]

Day 09 Karo Pass to Gyangtse. Gyantse 86 kms. Hotel Gyantse.
The day is intiated in isolation as we ascend the ravnies trail of the Karo La & closer we get to the City of Gyantsey the greenery envelopes & certainly there is change in Vegetation clearly earmarking the reasons as to why & what are the reasons, the Human alwys choose close to stay to the nature bestowed resources for livlihood & population & settlement dominate those sector's latter to the descend Karo Pass (5010m) one for sure realises in the wilderness around to scale the challenge of this holiday one has to condition for a few months of mental & physical fitness . Surrounding areas are the glaciers of 6000m and the beautiful lakes before we get to Gyantsey (3,980m). Overnight accommodation in hotel. [79 km]

Day 10 Gyangtsey to Shigatsey. Shigatsey 106 kms. Hotel Shigatsey.
Shigastey is consdiered the Granary of the West part of Tibet early morning local sight seeing visiting the Palkhor monastery and old part of town of Gyantsey. Next, continuing further, we feel that we have now we left far behind Gyantsey for our next destination Shigatsey (3900m), which is the second largest city of Tibet. Overnight accommodation in hotel. [103 km]

Day 11 Continue and camp after 75 kms.
We leave Shigatsey (3980m) and ascend across a small pass (4,200m) getting across the numerous Tibetan villages. We stay overnight at our tented camps (4,100m) [75 km].

Day 12 Continue and camp after Lhatsey 95 kms.
The trail ahead is colorful, other than barreen land scape the topography variation in color's add variety & joy to the ride . Then the moderately steep ramp begins to the TSO La pass (4500m). Subsequently, we ride till our tented camp (4000m) down to Lhatsey (3,900m) and get approx 10 kilometers after Lhatse for this night [95 km].

Day 13 Continue. Shegar 80 kms. Hotel.
Today we have to get across the next 5000 on the way. Usually in a Canyon it goes infinitely for a long time on a moderately steep runway to the 5200 meters high Lakpa pass. Now one follows approx. 40 kilometers long. During the departure we can see for the first time the Cho Oyu and Everest towering above 8000m. Overnight accommodation in hotel. [80 km]


Day 14 Continue. Pang La Pass. Camp after 65 kms.
We leave the Tibet settlement Shegar toward Mt. Everest. First we begin the 5200 meters high Pang La pass. From the highest point we can see the Makalu, Everest, Cho Oyu and Sisha Pangma. Then a 20-kilometer of long Downhill follows in the Rongbuk Valley (4200m), where we break our next Camp open with Everest view. [67 km]

Day 15 Continue. Rongbuk. Camp 35 kms.
The last stage for the highlight of this journey lines up: By beautiful valleys we go 5050 Meter up to the Sagenum monastery in the high terrain of Rongbuk. At the valley end the Mount Everest develops itself. Here we will break our camp open for the next two days. In the afternoon we have to explore time Rongbuk and enjoy the camp life. [35 km]

Day 16 Go to Everest Base Camp. Camp at Rongbuk.
We still continue 8 km and approx. Elevator meters to the Mt. Everest Base Camp (5200m), to the starting point for the Mt. Everest mounting from the Tibetan side. Who has still desire, can raise without Bike of still approx. 12 kilometres direction camp I (approx. 800m) of the Mt. Everest. Subsequently, it goes back to Rome-baked, where we stay overnight in the tent. [18 km]

Day 17 Camp before Tingri. 76 kms.
We get continue from the Rongbuk Valley (4500). A long way follows down to Tingri (4,400m). Overnight accommodation in the tent. [76 Km]

Day 18 Continue and camp after 75 kms.
Ride of this day will take us to Lablung La pass; at the base (4700m) we set our camp. This is the place where the valley ends and the 8020 meters high Shishapangma develops itself. Overnight accommodation in the tent. [75 km]

Day 19 Lablung-La Pass. Hotel Zhangmu 117kms.
Amazing and adventurous, the passes Lalung La, the last pass above 5000m we have to complete today. First we continue up to this pass (5050m), then approx. 180 elevator meters downhill and tackle the second passport height with 5200 meters. The Lalung La pass when crossed directly offers breath-robbing views on the Himalayas chain. From the pass we continue more 70 kilometres and now the ultimate descent starts down to the border place Zhangmu (2,300m), which is our last day in Tibet. Overnight accommodation in the hotel. [117 km]


Day 20
Continue from Zhangmu and cross the Tibet - Nepal border. Overnight Resort at Dhulikhel (Nepal).
From Zhangmu (2,300m) the way first goes down to Kodari (1600), where we enter to Nepal. Similarly, we continue and get amazed to find that everywhere seems incredibly greenery as in Tibet we pedalled all the way desert like landscapes. Getting to Barabise (800m) and after Dhulikhel (1450m) there are not such ramps. Today we stop at the resort before making way to Kathmandu next day. [97 km ]

Day 21 Morning drive to Kathmandu. Free day for shopping and etc.
Breakfast at this resort with early morning view of sunrise is panoramic. From Dhulikhel we continue through the ancient city Bhaktapur. Exploring its numerous attractions, we finally get back to our hotel at Kathmandu. In the afternoon we will visit Pasupatinath and the Stupa of Boudhanath. In the evening we will celebrate the successful completion of our Himalayas Cross Journey. [40 km]


Day 22 / - Fly Back Home .
